Debt collection in New Hampshire is governed by RSA Chapter 358-A, which sets standards for fair treatment by creditors. If you are served with a summons, it’s critical to act quickly. Under Superior Court rules, defendants generally have 30 days to file an Answer if served in-state. Missing this window can result in a default judgment, giving creditors authority to garnish your wages or freeze your accounts.

We examine whether debt buyers can provide a valid Specific Account Schedule and verify the chain of title. Statute of limitations considerations are also key. New Hampshire allows 6 years for written contracts and 3 years for open accounts, which we carefully assess for opportunities to challenge invalid claims.
